Dear Parents and Players,
Welcome to another exciting season of travel soccer. Every
season our group keeps getting better and better. Your coaches
are very excited about our lineup. I also want to take this opportunity to explain our rather large coaching staff.
As you know, Coach Steve Wragg has joined our team. When I am
flying Steve is your contact. Coach Paul will be available to help out when he can and at games if I’m away.
We also welcome Coach Tracy Fitzgerald who joins Coach Nadine helping out
when their busy schedules permit at practice and games. Here are the basics to make our season go smoothly:
Our philosophy:
- This is instructional-competitive soccer, which means there are many factors that affect
playing time:
- Attitude
- Effort
- Team Spirit
- Your priorities should be:
- Homework
- Middle School Sports, Music, CCD, etc.
- Oceana
Please try to make at least one practice per week and all games:
- For All Practices:
- Arrive early
- Bring a Size 5 ball
- Come dressed to play-soccer shorts, cleats, shin pads
- Plenty to drink
- We will start every practice with Dynamic Stretching
- Parents, please pick your players up on time
- For All Games
- Show time is now 1 hour before kickoff this year
- Come rested and well nourished (please
no sleepovers the night before)
- Come dressed to play without any jewelry
except medical/religious
- Oceana Team Shirt
- White undershirt/Under-Armor
(long or short sleeve) (if desired)
- Black team shorts
- Black sliding shorts/compression
shorts
- Black team socks
- Cleats and shin pads
- Plenty to drink
- We will Dynamic Stretch as a team followed
by a Passing Drill and Three Team Keep Away
- Game Check-In is 15 minutes before
kick-off
- Captains will bring the Game Snacks
and will lead Warm-Ups
- Parents, please be familiar with the
contents of the Parents Page on the Oceana Website
Positive, team focused attitudes are contagious. We have
at least four middle schools represented here….but only one Oceana team. Lets make this our
best season yet!
